Bouwinvest has said it wants its portfolio to meet the Paris climate goals before 2045. Bouwinvest has drawn up Paris Proof roadmaps for each of its funds. For instance, Bouwinvest has mapped out the entire retail portfolio and the fund is now working hard to improve the sustainability of its assets. And these efforts are paying off: the Parkweide shopping centre in Ede recently scored itself a BREEAM ‘Very Good’ rating, marking it as a future-proof shopping centre, well equipped to meet the challenges of climate change and to limit the associated risks. In addition to the GRESB-BREEAM nomination, last year the fund was awarded BREEAM five-star certification. No less than 94% of all the shops and shopping centres in its portfolio have been certified BREEAM-NL In-Use ‘Good’ or ‘Very Good’.
Of course, for the realisation of its sustainability goals the Retail Fund is largely dependent on its partners, including our external property managers CBRE, Cushman & Wakefield, Colliers and MVGM. It is partly thanks to their tireless efforts to make our buildings more sustainable that we will achieve our ambitious goals, and fulfil our promise of real value for life.
